2
Tap, label or listenStudents tap the rhythm, label the solfège or play back what they hear. Their devices stay silent and the Smartboard becomes the leaderboard. They build speed, accuracy and ear-training memory.

Late is outlined in red.

A red outline marks a late first take. On-time takes keep their normal band, even if the student betters the score later.

Questions

What directors ask before joining.

Is there anything to download?+

Nothing at all. It’s a web-based app that runs in the browser on Chromebooks, tablets, phones, laptops and Smartboards. Purchase here, get your access code immediately, and log in right here on this page. One purchase covers both sides: the Singer (aural training: singing & listening) and the Decoder (notation and rhythm).

Do my students need emails or accounts?+

No. You add students to a classroom from your dashboard and a PIN is generated for each. They sign in with their student code and that PIN. Nothing for them to create, nothing for you to reset. Read our student privacy page →

What makes this different from every other music app?+

It develops three separate skills — ear training, note reading and rhythm — each from beginner to the most advanced level. Use it in the classroom and at home, for live class challenges and for personal-best challenges on their own.

  • →It’s interactive. Play it as a game in class, or send it straight into your gradebook. Imagine 70 students completing a live activity at the same time, each getting their own grade.
  • →It’s fun. Students actually enjoy it, and come back on their own to beat their best.
  • →There’s no fluff. Every activity is fun and fundamentally important to developing music literacy.
  • →It’s simple. There are really just four exercises, each targeting a different skill: singing in tune (Solfège Singer), ear training (Solfège Says), notation reading (Solfège labeling) and rhythm performing. No confusion.
  • →It fits the way you teach, in class and at home. See the ways to use it ↓
What level of student is it for?+

Every level. Because it’s skill-based, there’s virtually no ceiling — beginners get started, and students keep developing their musicianship as far as they want to take it, from middle school through college.

And teachers — you’ll be challenged too!

Is this a sight-singing program?+

No. It’s an app for developing the three independent skills that sight-singing depends on: aural training, notation and rhythm. Sight Reading Factory is an amazing program for sight-singing itself.

When students build each skill on its own, they overcome their individual weaknesses, and that paves the way for them to master sight-singing.

P.S. We love Sight Reading Factory! Use code ChoralClarity to save 10% on all purchases.

How can I use it in my classroom?+
  • In class
  • Live competitionA class game on the Smartboard. Students join with one tap. See how it works ↓
  • Live activity or quizThe whole class performs at once, and every student is graded automatically.
  • Sub plansAn auto-graded assignment, so the work still counts when you’re out.
  • Daily instructionNo student devices needed: put aural training on the Smartboard and the whole choir sings and listens together.
  • At home
  • HomeworkSelf-graded, straight into your gradebook.
  • PracticeA motivational practice tool with personal-best challenges, as good as a video game.
  • For every student
  • DifferentiatedGive each student the level they need in aural training, notation and rhythm.
Does this work for band and instrumental teachers?+

Absolutely — and instrumental teachers are already using it.

  • Faster note reading. Decoding drills build reading speed, and you can use letter names instead of solfège.
  • Ear training. Hearing pitches and intervals matters just as much for players as for singers.
  • Rhythm performing. Tapping rhythms accurately in time is exactly what instrumentalists need.
Will my students REALLY practice at home?+

They sure will. When you gamify music literacy in the classroom, they’ll want to compete at home too.

  • →Climb the tempo ladder in Rhythm Raiser.
  • →Beat your fastest time in Solfège Sprint.
  • →See how many pitches you can recognize, then recall, in Solfège Says.

Everything is fun, fast, competitive and interactive.

Can I target one skill at a time?+

Yes. Each skill has its own levels and its own scores, so you can target exactly what a student or section needs — then combine them when they're ready.

How does the auto-grading work?+

Every submitted take arrives in your dashboard already scored — so you get real, tangible feedback on how each student is actually doing. It doesn't push into your school's gradebook — especially since students appear as numbers rather than names by default. You decide what the scores are worth: set a score range, or simply use a color system:

90%+ · dark green80–89% · light green

My advice: grade the effort and the growth — the accuracy takes care of itself.

What devices does it work on?+

Any modern browser — phones, Chromebooks, tablets, laptops, and your classroom Smartboard. Nothing to download or install.

Do students need a microphone?+

Only for Aural Training, where the mic checks their sung pitch — and the built-in microphone on a phone, Chromebook or laptop is all they need. Notation Decoding and Rhythm Performing are tap-based — they work anywhere, silently.

How is student privacy protected?+
  • Numbers only, unless your district says otherwise. New accounts use student codes, with no names stored. Names unlock only with your school’s written approval, and it’s one setting for the whole account.
  • No emails, no passwords, no third-party sign-in. Students use a code and a PIN you give them.
  • Nothing is recorded by default. Recordings are off unless your school approves them. If they’re turned on, audio is kept only long enough for you to review it and then deleted on a schedule. Scores stay.
  • Nothing is sold or advertised against. No ads, no data sales and no student profiling.
  • Ready for district review. FERPA and NY Ed Law §2-d answers are written up for your administrator or IT office.
